Megan Rakes, COA

Manager of Clinical Operations

Susquehanna Retina Center is delighted to have Megan as the Manager of Clinical Operations. Megan comes to us with strong business and medical assisting background. She attended Bucks County Community College where she was an honor student and attained certificates in both clinical and administrative medical assisting. She has 15 years of experience in ophthalmology and retina as an ophthalmic technician, scribe and retinal photographer/angiographer. She has additional experience in primary care and allergy/immunology.

In her role at SRC, Megan manages all aspects of day-to-day clinical operations of the practice. As our patient, you may hear her lovely voice on the phone when you call to schedule your appointment with us. You will likely see her when you check in and check out after your exam, as she will coordinate most aspect of your care. Megan is passionate about helping to provide the best and cutting edge retinal care while ensuring unparalleled positive experience for our patients!

Born and raised in Central PA, Megan is married to her husband Doug and has two kids. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, and exploring their favorite vacation spots. She is an avid Philadelphia sports fan, cheering for her favorite Phillies and Eagles! Go birds!!

Rachel Smoker, BS

Director of Patient Onboarding, Billing and Revenue Cycle Management

Susquehanna Retina Center is honored to have Rachel as the Patient Onboarding and Billing Specialist.

Rachel comes to us with strong patient and customer service, insurance and billing background. She graduated from Millersville University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics. She has 7 years of experience in retina and ophthalmology including patient onboarding, insurance verification, biologic and procedure insurance management, medical policy, and authorizations. She is a math and problem-solving wiz who is no stranger to challenges as her prior experience also included being a teacher in a 3 and 4 year-old classroom and traffic control technician.

In her role at SRC, Rachel will help you as the patient schedule your care at SRC, welcome and guide you through the patient onboarding process from check-in to check-out. Furthermore, Rachel will be an integral part of a team that navigates complex health insurance market to ensure that you receive the best possible care that we think you deserve!  

Rachel is married to her husband, Matt and has two grown daughters. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting new places, and her newest hobby, pickleball. 

Brandi Leib, BS

Ophthalmic Technician

Brandi Leib, BS, is a dedicated ophthalmic technician with a wealth of experience and a passion for exceptional patient care. Holding an education degree from Millersville University, Brandi has honed her expertise over the years, specializing in eyecare with a focus on the intricate field of retinal disease.

With a deep-rooted commitment to providing the utmost in patient care, Brandi's warm and empathetic approach immediately puts our patients at ease. Her strong interest in retinal disease and ophthalmic imaging fuels her continuous pursuit of knowledge within the field of ophthalmology and retina.

Beyond her professional achievements, Brandi's heart is enriched by her role as a loving mother to her two children. Her nurturing instincts extend beyond her family to encompass a menagerie of pets, ranging from dogs and cats to chickens, guinea pigs, and fish.

Brandi Leib's journey in eyecare has been marked by her unwavering dedication, seasoned expertise, and a compassionate spirit that touches both her patients and colleagues. Her presence undoubtedly enriches the world of ophthalmology and the lives she touches through her multifaceted pursuits.

Jill Potter

Ophthalmic Technician

Susquehanna Retina Center is pleased to have Jill as Ophthalmic Technician. She comes to us with strong and extensive background in ophthalmology. She attended Clemson University as a history major (go Tigers!). She has over 35 years of experience working in eyecare and last 27 years with a single practice devoted to the absolute best patient care in central PA. She loves working with patients and forming life-long relationships while helping them see better and meet their vision goals.

In her role at SRC, Jill will help you as the patient become onboarded with our practice, she will do basic vision and retinal testing and help with any procedures that you may need. Her calm demeanor will make you feel comfortable and cared for!

Jill has been married for 40 years to Albert and they have one son James (who they are so very proud of!) and a lovely daughter in law Miranda. In her spare time, she loves to read and is a huge sports fanatic. Her husband says if there isn’t a ball of some sorts on the screen that she is an unhappy person! She also love spending time with their dog Rudi.

Taylor McKee

Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe

Susquehanna Retina Center is delighted to have Taylor as an Ophthalmic Technician and Scribe.  Taylor comes to us with a strong medical/surgical assisting background. She is a proud graduate of McCann School of Business and Technology with an associate’s degree in allied health sciences. She worked as a surgical technician/assistant in the operating room assisting with vitreoretinal surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. She then furthered her experience as an ophthalmic technician and then lead scribe in a retina practice in Florida for 4 years before moving back to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family.

In her role at SRC, Taylor will be the main person assisting Dr Todorich and our other staff to ensure that your time with us is excellent and a pleasurable one! You will likely see her when you check in and check out after your exam, as she will coordinate most aspects of your care. She will guide you through your workup, diagnostic imaging and procedures such as injections, lasers or retina surgery if needed. Taylor is passionate about helping to provide the best and cutting-edge retinal care while ensuring unparalleled positive experience for our patients!

In her spare time, Taylor is a busy momma of two active young kids, but she does find time to enjoy her hobbies of working out and trail running/walking, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

 

 

 

 

Joana Amador, RN

Ophthalmic Receptionist/Assistant

Susquehanna Retina Center is excited to have Joana as our receptionist and assistant. She is a dedicated healthcare professional born and raised in the Philippines. Joana is a licensed registered nurse and spent several years as an ophthalmic nurse in the operating room. She developed a strong clinical foundation and a passion for patient care also by working in Japan under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA), where she gained valuable international experience and strengthened her skills in a multicultural healthcare environment. Joana's vibrant and energetic personality has always been one of her strengths, something that shined through even in her high school years as a cheerleader. That same spirit continues to guide her both personally and professionally.

She is a proud wife to her husband Ralph, and a devoted mother to their "Ausome" child, who is bravely living with autism spectrum disorder and battling brain cancer. Inspired by her child's strength, Joana has become an active advocate for autism awareness and brain cancer support, using her voice and experience to encourage and uplift other families on similar journeys. Outside of her professional and advocacy work, Joana enjoys quality time with her family and expresses her creativity as a nail technician, offering nail services during her free time. Known among her peers as a jack of all trades, she is admired for her reliability, optimism, and bubbly personality.

Joana is passionate about bringing her skills and compassion to SRC. She is committed to making a meaningful impact to our patients while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

Sophia Proenza, BS

Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician

Susquehanna Retina Center is excited to have Sophia as our ophthalmic technician/assistant. She comes to us after recently graduating from Elizabethtown College where she earned her bachelor's degree in Biology with a Health Profession concentration, along with a minor in Psychology. Sophia plans on attending medical school to become a medical doctor in the near future after spending her gap year with the SRC team.

In her role at SRC, Sophia will help you as the patient through the basic workups and diagnostic imaging during your visit. Sophia is devoted to giving patients the best care possible. Sophia's lighthearted and friendly demeanor will put you and your loved ones at ease!

Sophia was born and raised in Central New Jersey, but moved out to Central PA for school and then to officially join our team! In her free time, Sophia enjoys drawing, painting, and dancing. She also loves spending time with her friends, family, and most importantly, her dog, Snickerdoodle.


Allison Daez, BS

Ophthalmic Receptionist/Assistant

Susquehanna Retina Center is excited to have Allison as our ophthalmic receptionist/assistant. Allie brings a strong background in customer service and insurance, holding a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. As a certified healthcare professional born and raised in the Philippines, Allison dedicated three years to customer service, where she developed an extensive expertise in providing exceptional client support. She possesses broad experience in interpersonal skills, consistently establishing strong rapport with patients.

At SRC, you may hear Allie’s sweet voice initially when you call to schedule an appointment with us, or when she calls to confirm your future appointments. She may help you with your onboarding, help find out answers to your questions about your care, and generally support you in all your needs as a patient.

Beyond her professional endaveours, Allison is a devoted wife and a proud mother, effectively balancing a rewarding career with a strong dedication to her family. In her spare time, she prioritizes self-care, enjoying trips to the gym, shopping, and quality moments with her family.


Meghan Maulfair

Ophthalmic Receptionist/Assistant

Susquehanna Retina Center is delighted to have Meghan as our receptionist and ophthalmic assistant. Meghan comes to us with a strong background in customer service and organizational sciences. She worked for several years in biotech industry, interfacing with clinician scientists and patients on clinical trials. She is excited to experience “this side” of medicine, working with patients in the real world and delivering cutting edge retinal and ophthalmic care at SRC.

 You will hear Meghan’s lovely voice when you call to schedule your appointment with us or when you have a question about your care plan. She will likely to be among the first to greet you when you come to the office to see us! Her introduction to retina was when her son who was born premature had to have sight saving retina surgery as an infant. Her meticulous attention to detail is only eclipsed by her dedication to excellence in patient care as she is inspired by her own family member’s journey early in life.

A proud wife and a mother of four, she is the champion of organization logistics and family management, a skill set that she is happily deploying on a daily basis at SRC. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring cool sights in greater Harrisburg area and spending time with her favorite people.
